Courier Mail publishes our opinion-editorial from Founder Liam Fitzpatrick on Brisbane 2032

Commswork Founder, Liam Fitzpatrick, was published in Courier Mail this past week, explaining what Brisbane 2032 Olympics Games Organisers are able to learn from the experience of two people who helped build Allegiant and SoFi Stadiums.

One is the second highest grossing multi-purpose stadium globally, and the other will host the Olympic Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles in 2028.

He outlined how we in Queensland, have one chance to get this right. And it starts now in the planning and preparation for how to future-proof the fan experience - before a drop of concrete is even poured.

“It’s this kind of thinking Brisbane 2032 needs. Not only smart engineerings and fast Wifi, but a genuine obsession with the person who walks through the gate….

“Brisbane can do the same if planners treat communication and stakeholder alignment as highly as the concrete and steel.

“Last week felt like out cheat sheet. Two stadiums, built from scratch, by people who flew to Brisbane to share what they leaned.

“The question is how many of those with a hard hat and budget are listening.” ‍

While much of the talk was about the hardware and infrastructure challenges faced when building these complexes, the underlying issue that kept being discussed referred more to communications.

“The advice on offer wasn’t only about technology. For me it’s about communication. Getting construction, technology sponsorship and operations in the same meetings early enough to make decisions together, rather than retrofitting compromises.”

The edited version of Liam’s op-ed can be found on the Courier Mail site.
